Curiosity Begins with "I Don't Know."

Good stories must have a clear conflict that is resolved in some way. But today, I didn’t see the resolution, only the conflict. When I faced conflict this morning, I sat with the moment before closing the van doors and going back into the house.
Frustrated.
Defeated.
Solar and electrical have been the bane of the van build. Once I solve one problem — often one I caused — another pops up. I’ve watched several YouTube videos and read a few articles on the subject, but I simply don’t know enough. But I do know enough to ask.
Today, when my solar controller said I had no power, I couldn’t figure out what was wrong. I narrowed it down to a bad switch, but I had no way of knowing for sure. I knew that I didn’t have the knowledge or the tools to test it properly.
So, like many bad decisions begin, I went on our local community Facebook group and asked for help. These posts are often met with sarcasm and unhelpful responses by people who think they are the next great comedian, but today, Travis reached out and offered help. After a few messages between us, I made my way to his house just a few minutes away. He told me that I would see his camper in the driveway. Well, when I pulled up, this was not your average camper.
I was greeted by Billy G, the Mitsubishi FUSO FG 4×4. Travis of Tuk ‘n Roll Overland was the proud owner of this incredible overland vehicle that has taken his family on many adventures of many more miles. He welcomed me, and we (he) got right to work.

Travis has an extensive Renogy solar system in his rig, and he was able to diagnose the issue almost immediately. But not just a simple diagnosis, he solved the problem and replaced the cable in just minutes.
We spend time swapping stories, talking about life on the road, and discussing the next experience for both our families. And, of course, we exchanged brand stickers.
Today, I was reminded that we are all in this together and that we have a community that is willing to lend a hand when we need it. But we need to ask, even when some people might not be as kind.
I could have wallowed in my frustration, but my willingness to be curious and to step outside my circle of friends brought me resolution and a new friend who is willing to show me how to improve my setup in the future.
Live Simply. Stay Curious. ~ Todd
